15 years at Netwise: a conversation with our Chief Delivery Officer

Adrian Wieczorek joined Netwise fifteen years ago as a developer. Today, he’s responsible for delivery, team management, and the architecture of large projects. He told us about his career journey, the changes at the company, and what keeps him motivated to find new challenges here.

First steps at Netwise

Do you remember your very first day at work?

Adrian: I don’t really remember the day itself, but I do remember the reason I came here. At the big corporation I worked in before, everything was super procedural, and innovation was hard to push through. I wanted something different – a smaller company where decisions were made faster. Kuba, who I knew from conferences, seemed like the perfect partner for that kind of path.

How many people worked at the company back then?

Adrian: I was the sixth person on the team. It was really small, but that’s exactly what allowed me to grow so quickly.

From coder to leader

You started out as a developer. How did your role evolve?

Adrian: At first I was coding in .NET and building web projects. Over time I became a technical consultant, then a project manager, and eventually a team leader. Today I oversee all of delivery – team leads, PMs, architects. But I still like to be involved in big projects and their architecture.

Didn’t you miss pure coding?

Adrian: Not really, because for me it was always about the business value for the client. The real satisfaction came from seeing that the solution works and the client is actually using it – no matter what my role was.

Projects that stick with you

Which project do you remember especially well?

Adrian: Definitely the partner portal for a bank – a system that, for example, let stores handle installment sales. It had a lot of interesting functionality and configuration. Another key experience was a big energy-sector project – working side by side with huge companies on a joint enterprise architecture. That made us feel like a true partner, not just a contractor.

What connects people at Netwise?

Adrian: Curiosity and proactivity. We look for people who can not only write code but also want to understand the business, ask questions, propose better solutions. This isn’t the kind of place where you just “sit through” 8 hours. What matters here is engagement, ownership, and the drive to do more than just your narrow piece of work.

And the Netwise values – do they actually show up day to day?

Adrian: Yes. We’re brave because we’re not afraid to challenge clients and propose better solutions. We’re original because we always add something of our own. And we’re proud of what we deliver – because we can see our ideas working and creating value. And of course “Be Happy” – at Netwise the work is demanding, but it’s rewarding. Plus, we care about balance and a normal life outside of work.

Advice for newcomers

What advice would you give to someone just starting out at the company?

Adrian: Always keep the business context in mind. Whether you’re building a small piece of a form or designing architecture, you need to know why you’re doing it and what value it brings to the client. And stay curious – about technology, new trends – but always look at them pragmatically, through the lens of real applications.

What's next?

Adrian: I’d like Netwise to become a recognized player worldwide – but without losing our identity. We don’t want to turn into a stiff corporation, but to keep growing in our own style.
